As we approach tryouts for our competitive travel teams, we want to ensure that you are well informed about the process and what competitive travel soccer entails. Below, you will find necessary details regarding the tryout process and key information about participating on a competitive team.

 

The Tryout Process

Dates and Times:

 Tryouts will be held the week of April 20th though 24th at the fields directly behind Northwood Middle School (check in at the Blue hut behind the track). Please arrive 30 minutes early for check-in.

 

9u (8/1/17-7/31/18) - 6:00 - 7:00pm April 21st and 23rd

10u (8/1/16-7/31/17) - 6:00 - 7:00pm April 21st and 23rd

11u (8/1/15-7/31/16) - 5:30 - 7pm April 21st and 23rd

12u 8/1/14-7/31/15) - 5:30 - 7pm April 21st and 23rd

13u  (8/1/13-7/31/14) - 5:30 - 7pm April 20th and 24th

14u (8/1/12-7/31/13) - 5:30 - 7:00pm April 20th and 24th

 

What to Bring:

Wear proper soccer attire (cleats, shin guards, etc.) and a water bottle

 

Evaluation Criteria:

Players will be assessed on technical skills, tactical understanding, physical fitness, and teamwork.

Attitude, effort, and sportsmanship will also be essential in evaluations.

 

Selection Process:

Our coaching staff will evaluate players using a standardized rubric to ensure fairness.

• You will receive results via email within one week of the final tryout and feedback on your child’s performance.

 

What You Should Know About Competitive Travel Soccer

Competitive soccer is an exciting opportunity for players to develop their skills, build character, and experience the joys and challenges of team sports at a higher level. However, it also comes with additional commitments:

 

Time Commitment:

Teams typically practice 2X and participate in weekend games usually within an hour of Woodstock and tournaments. In addition to 3 tournaments locally and out-of-town.

A full-season schedule will be shared after team formation.

 

Financial Commitment:

Competitive soccer involves fees for training facilities, uniforms, league and tournament participation. Estimated costs will be discussed during the post-selection meeting.

 

Travel Expectations:

Travel teams compete against other clubs, which may require travel to regional or out-of-state locations.

Parents are responsible for arranging transportation and accommodations for away games and tournaments.

 

Player Development Philosophy:

We focus on holistic development, emphasizing skill-building, teamwork, and character growth.

While competition is essential, the ultimate goal is to foster a lifelong love for the game.
